Even within the whole area of Southwest Portland, real estate here varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. West Slope & Raleighwood lie in a sliver of land between Beaverton and Portland just west enough to be counted in Washington County (lower property taxes) but with Portland Addresses. Corbett-Lair Hill (with Homestead looking out from above), sweeps through the lower parts of Marquam Hill and is jam packed with the city’s enclave of painted ladies (victorian houses to be clear), with Corbett full of bungalows mixed in with newer attached homes and condos on the waterfront. South Waterfront is included in this part of SW Portland and includes the towers of John Ross condos & the OHSU tram. Hillsdale & Multnomah Village neighborhoods connect via Capitol Highway and has wonderful meandering streets (several without improvements or sidewalks) amidst hilly and well treed terrain. Both areas have sweet ‘downtown’ spots with stores, shops and cafe’s—enjoyable to explore just because. Bridlemile, Hayhurst, Arranmore & Maplewood share hilly terrain and all within access to Gabriel Park–one of Portland’s most beloved neighborhood parks. Burlingame, Collins View & Marshall Park are south of the Terwilliger curves and buffer between the West Hills & Lake Oswego. Ashcreek, Far Southwest, Markham & West Portland Park are in the far southwest corner of Portland and can easily be overlooked. One of the reasons I enjoy SW Portland so much is simply because each little neighborhood has it’s own unique individual style…more than most parts of town. Definitely worth your time to see which neighborhoods might perfectly suit your needs.
