All About Portland’s Bethany Neighborhood

The Bethany neighborhood is a suburb just outside of Portland bordered by Somerset below, Rock Creek to the west and Cedar Mill to the east. On the corner of Bethany & Laidlaw is a central hub for this area including QVS, Walgreens, Bliss Cupcakes, Starbucks, Bethany Athletic Club, and all kinds of great spots to grab a bite to eat. The fountain pictured above is a great place for neighbors to gather and mom’s to give their kids heat relief when the weather gets hot.
Bethany has a lot to offer those looking for ‘home’. Whether condo’s or attached townhomes are your speed, or if you prefer the original or newer developments, price ranges can go from $250k for earlier planned areas up to and over $1M for high-end developments.
My clients purchase their homes in Bethany for several reasons:
- Excellent school system K-12
- Bethany is located in Washington County = typically lower property taxes compared to Multnomah County.
- Straight shot commuting for Intel employees at multiple campuses
- Direct drive into downtown Portland
- High walk-ability–lots of walking paths were purposefully created throughout the area.
