Portland Parks free “Movies in the Park”–Summer 2010

July14

YEA! It’s here—Portland Parks “Movies in the Park” Summer 2010 Schedule is out and about! And with the price of “FREE”–this is a great way to gather your family and start some summer traditions!

Even summer in Portland isn’t typically ’summer’ at night and watching a 2 hour movie from a blanket gets a great knot in your neck… so take from my experience:

  • The best chairs to bring: Camping chairs WITH the foot rest—(check out Eddie Bauer outlets!)
  • Bring at least 1 good blanket per person—that way you can put your feet up AND stay warm.
  • Layers of course!
  • Bring a thermos full of hot chocolate, keep the marshmallows fresh by topping off the cups when you serve them.

Hats off to Bank of America, Portland Parks Foundation, K103 & KEX for sponsoring Movies in the Park again!  For more details of each movie and park locations, go to Portland Parks & Recreation for all the details. See the dates, movies & locations below!

Oregon Zoo: Summer Concert Series 2010

July7

“Tap-Tap-Tap…..is this thing on?”…..If this ‘thing’ is the 32nd annual Oregon Zoo Concert Series–then yes it is! Jewell snuck in under the radar in June….but the rest of the series really kicks in to high swing July 23rd! Sponsored by NW Natural Gas, all proceeds go directly to the zoo!

Here are a few things that you’ll need to know!

  • Bring a blanket and layers-it gets chilly sometimes when the sun goes down!
  • Save yourself a parking hassle—park anywhere but the zoo and take the Max train in!
  • Best of all–enjoy!
  • Tickets are available at Ticketmaster
